Before treatment / sculpture representing a youth
Marble surface shows ingrained dust and grime. Surface losses to shield and plinth. Missing elements such as toes. Two large holes have been previously drilled possibly to facilitate transporting of sculpture.

After treatment / detail: surface cleaning was achieved by using a steam cleaner. Surface losses to the nose, lips and hair were in filled with a CaCO3 based putty.

Before treatment / back view: structural losses (four large holes probably used to lift the sculpture).

After treatment / back view: removal of previous repairs. Infill of surface losses.

Before treatment / Central female figure front view:
Marble surface shows ingrained dust and grime. Cracks associated  with structural holes. Tip of cornucopia is missing as well as left hand. Extensive surface losses to drape and plinth.  

Before treatment / approximately ten metal pins were fixed to the surface with cement. Pins were corroded and surrounding marble surface showed oxidation.

Transportation and lifting in to our workshop

After treatment / detail: rebuild of tip of cornucopia and reattachment of new carved hand. Research focused on determining hands position and attribute (s) lead to similar replicas found at AMP buildings in New Zealand and Australia. These replicas were used as a reference in sculpting a new hand.
